R438 permanent magnet generator or A.R.E.P or automatic auxiliary type of generator voltage regulator is a compatible replacement for R448, R449, R438 and AEM110RE016 and also 922, 124

R438 Automatic Voltage Regulator (AVR) circuit provides closed loop control of generator output voltage by regulating field current, r438 can be powered by EREP or PMG field trigger system and equipped as an option on:

-100 series generators

-200 series generators

-300 series generators

With the AREP agitation system, the R438 AVR is powered by two auxiliary windings that are independent of the voltage sense circuit. With the PMG option, the R438 AVR is powered by the PMG that is installed at the rear of the generator.
