What is the ESR of a capacitor?

Any capacitor has some resistance to the alternating current passing through it. ESR (equivalent series resistance) is the sum of the ohmic resistance inside the capacitor. An ideal capacitor has zero ESR. The model for such a capacitor consists of a resistor in series with an ideal capacitor.

Since the electrolyte will gradually dry up with the long-term use of the electrolytic capacitor, the ESR of the electrolytic capacitor will gradually increase over time. Why use an ESR table?

Because ordinary analog or digital meters can make you mistake bad parts for good ones when measuring electrolytic capacitors, it will waste a lot of time and repair equipment. If you don't test the ESR, you're missing bad capacitors. Often these bad capacitors have high ESR, which you can't measure with a normal multimeter or digital capacitance meter. The ESR of a capacitor can only be measured with an ESR meter. The ESR meter can be measured online, which means you don't need to solder down the capacitors.
